Questions

Do I legally need a signed consent form for online sessions?
Usually not by law, but your professional body expects a clear, recorded consent and contract before you start. BACP, UKCP and HCPC say so in their guidance, and UKCP recommends a written contract for remote work. A signed document is the simplest way to prove what was agreed if a complaint comes.
Is a simple electronic signature enough?
Yes. Under eIDAS Article 25, a simple electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect in the EU or UK solely because it is electronic. For GDPR explicit consent, the EDPB accepts an online form or a confirming email, and a signature with an audit trail goes further. It is not a qualified signature, and it does not need to be.
Does GDPR require my clients to sign a consent form?
No, and TeleConsent does not pretend it does. GDPR requires you to give clients a privacy notice. Regulated health professionals usually hold notes under Article 9(2)(h), not consent. You still need explicit consent where you rely on it: recording sessions, email contact, testimonials. Coaches without a statutory duty of secrecy also need it for health-related notes. The pack keeps the notice, the agreement and the optional consents separate, as BACP recommends.
Which professions and countries at launch?
UK and France at launch, for psychotherapy, counselling, psychology, coaching and allied health. The packs draw on BACP, UKCP and HCPC guidance, the FFPP code, the French public health code on télésanté, and CNIL and ICO guidance. Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany follow founding-customer demand.
Where is the data stored?
In the EU, encrypted at rest. Your signed documents are yours: export or delete them at any time.
What happens if the product does not ship?
You are refunded in full if we have not shipped by 31 March 2027, or on request at any time before launch.
